Ten movies I loathe - part 2

Basic Instinct
That's how erotic it gets
Basic Instinct was all the rage when I was thirteen. Besides living in a town with no cinema this was probably the last movie my partens would have let me see. So of course I did no see it back then, but as it was covered in the media a lot I knew quite a bit about it. Surely a movie about a woman killing men while being intimate seemed exciting for a thirteen year old boy.
However, when watching Basic Instinct for the first time, the latter didn't seem that trilling to me anymore and I was merely looking for a good dose of suspense. I've read about the flick being similar to Hitchcock's work, so I had some expectations. However, the 'suspense' in this movie is totally lame. Even the "surprising turns" offered all are predictable. It's just a stupid story presented in a atmosphere that obviously tries to be cool and post-modern but turns out sterile and boring. The stupid substance-less story is presented by actors that resemble robots more than actual human beings, Sharon Stone surely sets a standard in superficial bland acting. She earned a Razzie Award some years later for Intersection and The Specialist but Basic Instinct should have earned her one as well.
Add the blatant misogyny and homophobia that sets the tone in the movie and you've got another entry to the movies I loathe list.
